Legal Note – Enforcing UK Judgements in Iceland Against Web Hosts

A brief legal note for fans of Icelandic law.

Recent posts elsewhere suggest readers may be interest in the urban myth that web hosting companies in Iceland hold immunity from United Kingdom (or other) libel laws. When I had finished laughing, I thought I would write this brief post.

Iceland is not in the European Union, but Iceland, the UK and other European countries have signed a reciprocal treaty agreeing to enforce civil judgements with each other called the Lugano Convention (Practical Law link, Wikipedia link). Litigants can just rock up to the Iceland courts and ask for registration.

There is also a myth that Iceland web hosts have immunity. In fact it works pretty much exactly like the United Kingdom. Here is a link to an English translation of the immunity law Merchants and Trade – Act No. 30/2002 on Electronic Commerce and other Electronic Services.

Breaking: Twitter Admits Inflated Video Advertisement Views and Overbilling as More Executives Jump Ship

This is yuge. UK Business insider has just revealed (archive here) that due to a software error Twitter has been accidentally reporting higher advertising metrics for some video adverts by up to 35%. This led to customers being overbilled, although they have now received refunds. At roughly the same time, the Chief Technology Officer of Twitter Adam Messinger and Vice President of Product Josh McFarland have also announced their departures from the troubled social media network (archive here).

At the same time, on respected analyst Trip Chowdhry at Global Equities Research released a note describing the Twitter as, “toast”, and opining that stock in the company is worth less than $10 (archive here). That note appears to have been issued before the latest revelations. Continue reading →

The electoral college results today dramatically confirmed Donald Trump as President-Elect of the United States of America, now on course for inauguration on 20th January 2017. Meanwhile in the ultimate humiliation, whilst leftists had sought to make the electoral collage undo the will of the people and the election results, it was Hillary Rodham Clinton who had 7 times as many faithless voters as Trump.

In the ultimate humiliation, in the electoral college vote today Hillary Clinton suffered 7 times as many defections by faithless electors as Donald Trump. Leftists are now campaigning to stop the, ‘fascist regime’ ‘before it starts’. MHN says it WAS stopped. Click for full size.

In Washington 4 Democrat electors successfully voted against Hillary Rodham Clinton (archive here), exercising what the left calls their constitutional mandate to vote with their conscience against a clearly unqualified candidate. In Minnesota, Maine and Colorado others tried to vote against Clinton.

Despite the ongoing humiliation and rejection, leftist hysteria over the election result has grown and some are now effectively advocating massive civil unrest across the United States in an effort, by their own admission, to overturn the results of a lawful election.

Why the West Should Give Thanks for Putin this Christmas

Since Donald Trump’s election there has been near hysteria from the Democratic Party about ‘Russian hacking’ of Hillary Clinton’s emails and ‘troll farms’ interfering with the United States elections to help get Donald Trump elected (archive here). There is incredibly powerful evidence of Russian innocence. Wikileaks, who released the emails, say they got the ‘hacked’ emails from Democratic staffers and it had nothing to do with Russia (archive here). They are backed in this by a former British ambassador, Craig Murray.

The idea that one of the vipers in the toxic, writhing nest otherwise known as the Democratic Party is behind the leak is vastly more plausible than the idea of some surreal international conspiracy or (see below) the line some leftists are peddling about a plot by space aliens.

Even so, it would be perfectly understandable if Russia and its President Vladimir Putin had decided to put the case for Donald Trump? Why not? During her election campaign Hillary Rodham Clinton planned to establish, ‘no fly zones’ (archive here) in Syria. This led to warnings from retired US military pilots that the reckless policy could provoke a war with Russia.

Worse, the conflict in Syria repeats the same mistakes that have coloured all of western interventions in the Middle East for the past several decades. The Middle East contains many countries and many factions. Almost none of them favours democracy, an idea that the west continues to try to impose despite total, catastrophic, ruinous failure on each attempt.

The most recent disaster is the creation of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the aftermath of the removal of Saddam Hussein. Is there a democracy in Iraq? No – there is a medieval theocracy beheading and burning that according to Bloomberg news sells children aged 1-9 as sex slaves for $165 each (archive here).

A professional looking profile, @RealPresidentTrump, has appeared on free speech social network Gab.ai (archive here). However whilst its posts so far have been eloquent and appropriate there is no blue verified check.

It seems inconceivable that Andrew Torba would delay more than a micro-second between a call from the Trump team and verifying an account for the real President-elect. Even MHN has a verified checkmark. There has also been no announcement from any other source.

Jubilation as Loathesome Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Excluded from Key Meeting with Trump

In a display of his noble leadership and clear vision Donald Trump has excluded controversial Twitter Chief Executive Jack Dorsey from a key meeting with leaders of the technology industry. Politico alleges that this was due to Twitter refusing to participate in an ad campaign involving a ‘crooked Hillary’ emoji (archive here). I say, “Who cares? There are many, many good reasons to exclude Jack Dorsey from meetings forever”.

Twitter is no American success story, instead as Mark Zuckerberg famously said, “They Drove A Clown Car That Fell Into A Gold Mine’”.

Twitter is a social media website that has lost “a staggering amount of money” according to Time magazine, which put its losses over $2 Billion (archive here). That was in February and Twitter has continued to lose way more money since then as set out in its series of disappointing quarterly financial reports. Despite hundreds of millions of users, Twitter stock continues to fall.

Rumours of buyers come and go, giving temporary boosts to the company before dissipating into the mists. The fundamental problem with Twitter is that years after it was first set up it still is not making its owners any money. At the same time, Twitter has been criticised for failing to deal with terrorism, paedophilia, bullying and also with political bias.

The late 20th and early 21st centuries have seen a bizarre role reversal between Russia and America. Where the cold war saw a free market west fighting a communist Russia, now in a bizarre role reversal we see a free-market Russian leader facing aggression from extreme left wingers in the United States, such as lawyers calling for the bombing of Russia (archive here). Whilst it was once the Soviet Union that was undemocratic, now the Left in the United States seeks to undo the outcome of the presidential elections.

Years ago I was a member of the British equivalent of the Democratic Party, Labour. It is easy to support a party like Labour or the Democrats when you are young. They promise a paradise with glib soundbites. They have a ready made villain – their opponents. Most of your teachers will be enthusiastic supporters. Like a Saturday morning cartoon it is all so simple, with goodies and baddies ready made.

Then reality sets in. Every left-wing government that has ever been elected has failed to deliver on its promises because the fantasies that they sell to well meaning, decent people can never be achieved. No socialist government can achieve its vague utopia any more than King Canute could stop the tide coming in or Angela Merkel can repeal the law of gravity.

Twitter Will Not Rule Out Banning Donald Trump. Trump Should Ban them and Join Gab.ai

Twitter does not like us? Well we do not like them?

According to the Independent, Twitter will not rule out banning President-Elect Donald Trump (archive here). The Witchfinder responds along the lines of ‘F*** Twitter’ and points out that Donald Trump could humiliate Twitter and energise the Right by ditching Twitter for its smaller but rapidly growing rival Gab.ai which is friendlier to Republican voices.

Earlier this year I started work on Fitter – a Twitter rival (F*** Twitter). Gab beat me to it and frankly is pretty damn good. I may still do my offering but I do not want to compete so it will now be something more like a Reddit / Twitter hybrid. Gab is very impressive and I wholeheartedly support Andrew Torba.

Why is Trump still on Twitter? The site is a dying anti-Conservative platform with plummetting stock value and the hatred of right-wingers everywhere. Recently I identified members of a paedophile hate group called Kiwi Farms on Twitter. One member was openly calling for genocide including cutting off the fingers of Jews. Another exhorted users to visit the ‘Child Porn Captial [sic] of the Internet’.

Several users had reported the tweets with no effect. Only when I personally threatened Jack Dorsey with litigation and to invite Breitbart to photograph him being served with documents did Twitter suddenly take action. Similarly Twitter has never taken action against journalist Sarah Jeong who named a rape victim using the platform.

#DumpKellogs: Kellogg’s Cornflakes Inventor John Harvey Kellog was a Child Abuser who Poured Acid on the Genitals of Pre-Teens

In light of the recent controversy over Kellogg’s, MHN editor Sam Smith explains why he is joining the Kellogg’s boycott and why readers should too. Kellogg’s was founded by an eccentric Victorian who blamed the world’s ills on masturbation. Whilst this in itself would be harmless, he gave advice to parents on abusive ways to treat children suspected of masturbation and carried out clitoridectomies (removal of the clitoris) on underage girls.

The modern Kellogg’s company does not endorse female genital mutilation but in 2016 has been linked to child labour involving 8 to 14 year olds. Kellogg’s has also withdrawn its advertising from Breitbart News over “values”.

Cornflakes were invented by Dr John Harvey Kellogg and his brother Will Keith Kellogg (who went on to later found the eponymous company). The food was invented as a by-product of the brothers’ running of a well-known hospital of the era called the Battle Creek Sanitarium.
