Defamation
This blog allows (moderated) comments by readers and relies on the notice procedure under s5 Defamation Act 2013. Under the new Act it is a complete defence to any defamation claim that a post was made by someone other than the operator of the site, regardless of whether posts are moderated (s5 (2) and s5 (12)) unless the notice procedure has been complied with. Notices under s5 may be sent to the email above.
This blog is not part of IPSO but has adopted the IPSO Editors’ Code of Practice. We will consider complaints about breaches in good faith. The blog also considers the IMPRESS Standards Code.
GDPR
This blog has a policy of considering the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) in preparing articles. In particular, MHN policy is to consider proportionality and public interest. Where appropriate, MHN will consider carefully whether Schedule 2, Part 5, s26 applies (archive). MHN has careful regard to the ICO Data Protection and Journalism Code of Practice.
